What?
Planning has begun for next year’s event, the hosting of a Royal Agricultural Exhibition focused on livestock competitions and agrarian-related exhibits.
When?
Fri 24 May – Wed 29 May, 2024
Where?
The Exhibition will take place at the current Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg, pending finalisation of the Royal Agricultural Society’s intended move to Hilton.
Why?
This represents the next phase in the Society’s transition to a model that will deepen its commitment to agriculture. The occasion will focus on providing a much-improved experience for breeders and farmers, whilst also providing interested members of the public with a dedicated and informative agricultural event.
How?
The Royal Agricultural Exhibition will differ from past Royal Shows in that it will no longer cater for a funfair and entertainment component, nor will it include sales and displays of the bric-a-brac associated with past events.
In addition to competitive showings of cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, cage birds and rabbits, the event will include displays of heavy equipment, farming machinery and agri-technology.
Of interest to a wider audience, non-incongruous retail items such as leather wear, meat products, cheese, wool and clothing will also be available for purchase.
