The Amashova is one of the safest but toughest and most grueling cycling events, known as the Amashova Durban Classic in South Africa.
Dubbed the safest cycle race in KwaZulua Natal, the 25th annual Amashova National Cycle Classic was held in October 2009, for the first time. The 106km road race follows a similar route to that of the Comrades Marathon, although a shorter 38km fun ride is also on offer. Held during rather humid conditions, although not Durban’s stickiest time of year, the race starts in Pietermaritzburgand ends in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
